The Febino Digital team supplies, installs and services diesel generator (DG) sets for offices, factories, hospitals, hotels and data centres — with AMF / ATS auto-changeover, synchronisation panels, fuel and exhaust systems, earthing and AMC support. Reliable backup power the moment the mains fails.
In normal operation the building runs on mains power. When the mains fails, the AMF / ATS panel senses it within seconds, starts the DG set, and changes the load over to the generator. When mains returns, it switches the load back and stops the DG after a cool-down run. A UPS bridges the few seconds of changeover so that servers and critical equipment never see a break. Below is the typical arrangement the Febino Digital team installs.
What each part in the drawing above does, and what the Febino Digital service team checks on it.
Burns diesel to turn a shaft at a fixed speed (usually 1500 rpm). Its size decides how much power the DG can give. A governor holds the speed steady so the frequency stays at 50 Hz as the load changes.
Coupled directly to the engine. As the shaft turns, its rotating magnetic field makes 3-phase AC electricity at 415 V, 50 Hz — the same as mains power. Its kVA rating is the DG's rating.
The controller starts and stops the engine, shows voltage, current, frequency, running hours and alarms, and shuts the DG down on faults like low oil pressure or high temperature. The AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) keeps the output at 415 V.
Coolant carries heat away from the engine to the radiator, where the fan blows air through the fins to cool it. Without it the engine overheats and shuts down within minutes.
The silencer reduces engine exhaust noise, and the stack carries the fumes up and away from people and air intakes, to the height required by pollution control norms.
A sound-proof steel enclosure lined with acoustic foam. It keeps noise within CPCB limits, protects the DG from rain and dust, and lets it be installed outdoors or close to the building.
Let in the fresh air the engine needs to burn fuel and the radiator needs for cooling, while keeping noise inside. Blocked louvers make the DG overheat and lose power.
Powers the starter motor and the controller. A weak battery is the most common reason a DG fails to start during a power cut, so a battery charger keeps it topped up at all times.
Most silent DG sets carry their fuel tank inside the steel base frame, sized for several hours of running. A level gauge shows how much diesel is left; bigger sites add an external tank.
Rubber or spring mounts between the engine / alternator and the base frame. They absorb vibration so it does not travel into the foundation, the building or the cables.
The alternator output leaves the DG through a breaker and power cables to the AMF / ATS panel, which connects it to the building when the mains fails — as shown in the next diagram.
Here is what each block in the diagram above does, and what the Febino Digital team takes care of for it.
The normal power supply from the electricity board — through your own transformer on HT supply, or directly on LT supply. It powers the building whenever it is available.
A diesel engine turns an alternator to make electricity when the mains fails. Modern sets come in a silent acoustic canopy and must meet CPCB IV+ emission norms. The rating (kVA) is chosen from the load that must run during a power cut.
Stores the diesel that feeds the engine. The day tank holds enough fuel for the required backup hours, with level indication, a fuel filter and supply / return piping to the engine.
The DG needs its own earthing: two pits for the alternator neutral and two for the DG body and canopy, so faults clear safely and nobody gets a shock from the metal frame.
The brain of the system. The AMF (Automatic Mains Failure) controller watches the mains; the ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) moves the load between mains and DG. It also gives protection (overload, short circuit, earth fault) and metering (voltage, current, kW, running hours).
When the mains fails, the AMF panel sends a start signal to the DG. When the mains is back and stable, it changes the load back and sends a stop signal after a short cool-down run — no one needs to operate the DG by hand.
Receives power from the AMF / ATS panel — mains or DG — and distributes it through outgoing breakers to the building's floors and equipment. Non-essential loads can be kept off the DG to save fuel.
General lighting, emergency and escape lighting, and power sockets for desks and equipment — kept running so people can keep working and move around safely during a power cut.
Air-conditioning, water and fire pumps and lifts. Motors draw a high current at start, so the DG must be sized for this starting surge, not just the running load.
A DG takes a few seconds to start and take over. The UPS runs servers, network, CCTV and other critical equipment from its batteries during that gap, so they never see a break in power.
The Febino Digital team delivers the complete DG backup system — not just the generator. From sizing and approvals to foundation, changeover panel, cabling, fuel, exhaust and earthing, we hand over a system that starts every time.
CPCB-compliant diesel generator sets with acoustic enclosures, from small office ratings to large industrial sets, from leading engine brands.
Automatic Mains Failure and Automatic Transfer Switch panels for hands-free start, changeover, protection and metering.
Run two or more DG sets in parallel for higher capacity and redundancy, with load sharing and auto start of the next set.
Day tanks, fuel piping, level indication, exhaust piping with insulation and a stack of the height set by pollution norms.
Power cabling from DG to panel and dedicated neutral and body earth pits, tested and documented.
Foundation, anti-vibration mounting, ventilation, first fill, load testing and handover with operator training.
A DG set is only useful if it starts when the power fails. The Febino Digital service team keeps DG sets of all major brands healthy with planned maintenance and fast breakdown support.

Run the DG at real load to prove its capacity and prevent wet-stacking in lightly loaded sets.
Engine top and major overhauls, alternator rewinding, AVR and controller replacement.

Cold storage, material handling and security systems.
DG sets are sized in kVA from the total connected load, the load that must run during a power cut, and the starting current of motors, lifts, pumps and UPS systems. As a rule, a DG set should normally run at about 60–80% of its rating. The Febino Digital team carries out a load study at site and recommends the right rating, whether you need a single set or multiple sets in synchronisation.
An AMF (Automatic Mains Failure) panel senses when the mains supply fails, starts the DG set automatically, and changes the load over to the generator. When mains power returns, it switches the load back and stops the DG after a cool-down period — with no manual operation needed.
CPCB IV+ are the current emission norms from the Central Pollution Control Board for new diesel generator sets in India. New sets must meet these limits and come with the required acoustic enclosure for noise control. Febino Digital supplies compliant DG sets and advises on the latest norms for your rating.
A DG set needs routine checks every month, and oil, filter and coolant service at the running-hour or time intervals set by the manufacturer. A DG that sits idle should still be test-run regularly. Under a Febino Digital AMC, our team does scheduled preventive maintenance, battery and fuel checks, load testing and breakdown support.
